How To Keep Her Interest High

Here are some things that you can do to help keep her interest in the relationship despite the distance:

• Schedule regular times that you will meet up.  You need that physical contact and it cannot be neglected.

• Contact each other in some way often.  Try to talk, email, or text every day.  Even if it is just a hello or hope your day is going good, talk often.  Communicate is essential to a good relationship.

• Make sure that she has a picture of you.  Give her a custom mouse pad with your picture on it or a keychain with your picture.  Just make sure that she has something of you around her to keep you fresh in her mind.

• Send her gifts often.  You don’t have to send her big gifts, but just little things to let her know that you care.

You need to make sure that you do not lose that connection.  You need to make sure that you are still attracted to each other and that you are not letting emotional distance come between you even though physical distance is.

LDR Idea #1: Put some thought into why you are working so hard at keeping this relationship together.  Take time everyday for a week to write down ten things that you love about her.  They can be anything from her cute nose to the way she chews her pencil when she is doing a crossword to the way she always stands up for what she believes in.  At the end of the week, send her your list.

LDR Idea #4:Make her a special gift that will last all year.  Put together a picture calendar that features pictures of you and her together.

LDR Idea #5: Again, let technology help you out.  Using a digital video recorder make a video of a day in your life.  Give her a tour of your home and then let her tag along as you go through the day.

Question #1: Am I the jealous type?

If you get jealous real easy then you probably won’t last in a long distance relationship.  You won’t be seeing your girlfriend a lot.  You won’t be able to follow her every move.  You have to accept that she will be around other guys and you won’t be there.

Question #2: Can I trust from the get go?

Along with not being jealous, you have to be able to trust in the other person.  You have to build that trust right away.  You cannot have any doubt that you can trust this woman 100%.

If you are not positive that the long distance part of your relationship will not be ending soon or at least that it will not have a definitive end, then you need try to find some common ground.  You have to have some physical contact at some point.  If you do not foresee the ability to ever get together in the same physical place then it probably won’t work out.

Question #4: Do you have things in common?

You cannot be all focused on the distance part of the relationship. Don’t forget to make sure that  you have things in common.  You will be talking a lot, so you will need more to talk about than just how you feel about each other.  You will have to build up a good relationship that has substance to it.

Question #5: Can you face the unknown?

A long distance relationship is full of the unknown.  If you are afraid of not always being in control and you cannot stand to let things unfold naturally, then a long distance relationship may be more stress than you can handle.

In the end the choice is yours.  You have to make the decision that is right for you.  Only you know if you are ready to handle the demands of a long distance relationship.
