Here are some things to keep in mind when trying to find your perfect boyfriend at work:

• Make sure he is into you and not just the office flirt.  Watch how he interacts with other women in the office, so you know if his flirtation is directed at you or it’s just who he is.

• Do you have anything in common other than work?  Make sure you can have a conversation that goes beyond work.

• Consider what kind of employee he is.  You can tell a lot about a man’s character and personality by what he does at work.  Look at how reliable he is.  Consider how he handles stress.  This can be great insight into what it would be like to date him.  This is actually a perk to dating a co-worker.  You can’t get this type of information when you are dating strangers.

• Make sure you don’t forget to consider what you want in a man.  The idea of being able to go to work and meet your perfect mate is exciting, but don’t compromise what you want just because he is an easy catch.

• Don’t forget that finding your perfect boyfriend at work has some perks.  You can ask around about him.  Get information on him from others who have worked with him.  You can get to know him before you even have a first date.  Dating a co-worker is not all that bad of an idea when you realize that it can be the perfect way to find someone that is your ideal match.

Company Policy

Dating a coworker can lead to so many problems.  If your company has a policy against office dating then you could even risk your job.  You have to think about what will happen when the romance ends.  Will you really be able to handle seeing him at work every day?

Too Much Of Him

Another thing to think about is just the fact of being around him all the time.  Won’t you want a break?  Being at work together may not be quality time, but you will still see see each other and interact.  Sometimes distance can be a good thing, but with an office romance there isn’t much of that.

Gossip

You also need to think about your office gossip mill.  What will everyone be saying?  Are you risking your reputation by dating a coworker?  Is your office image that important to you?  You could really be risking it all and end up looking awful.  You just never know what people may say.  You could end up damaging your reputation and even your relationships with others in the office.

You just have to proceed with caution.  An office romance could be more dangerous than it seems.  Even when you keep things on the down low, the situation can spiral out of control.  For most women keeping business and pleasure separate is the best idea.  It is not really worth the risk to your professional image to go man hunting at the office.  You don’t want to get the reputation as the office man eater.
