Blind dates are intimidating for men and women.  They are full of the unknown and that can be frightening, even to the most confident person.  Calming your nerves can be helped by learning what a woman expects on a blind date.

Expectations

Whether good or bad, most women do not have high expectations for a blind date.  In fact, you probably feel the same way.  Most people – male or female – going on a blind date expect things to be awkward and for the date to be anything but enjoyable.

On the one hand, this is great because you don’t really have any expectations to live up to.  The threshold is low, so if you can pull off a date that is comfortable and fun then you walk away a winner.

On the other hand, your date may be ruined before it begins due to these preconceived notions.  No matter what you do or how wonderful the date is, the woman may not be happy since she has it in her mind that blind dates are bad.

The Blind Date Curse

It is your job to overcome the expectations and make this date something wonderful.  It can be a challenge, but you can do it.  You just need to start with thinking of this as a first date, not a blind date.

Treat this like a first date.  Don’t think of her as a stranger, but as a regular date.  Having this mindset will help you to put her at ease.  It may even help her to shake the all the bad things she has in her mind about blind dates.

Overcome Awkwardness

The biggest challenge on a blind date is the awkwardness.  She will probably be nervous and look to you to put her at ease.  You do have to be careful.  She is expecting you to be friendly and to approach her with respect, so make sure that you do that.

Chances are that she expects you to be sleazy and to try to put the moves on her.  Don’t do this and don’t even elude to this.  Be friendly and honest.  Steer the conversation away from anything that could make her uncomfortable.  Don’t push conversation topics that seem to make her pull away.

Have some conversation ideas in mind before you go.  Make sure you listen to her and engage her in an active conversation.  Ask her questions and show interest in her.  A good conversation can really lighten the mood and make the date enjoyable.

Even if you are not feeling chemistry, your blind date can still be successful.  You just have to exceed her expectations.  There may be no second date, but at least she won’t have anything bad to say about the date.  Have fun on your blind date and make sure she has fun.  All that you really can expect from a blind date is that it will be a good time.  If you accomplish that then you have had a successful blind date.
